Radius of Gyration#
The Radius of gyration analysis follows the overall compactness of a selected group along a path or trajectory. It is a classic choice for monitoring expansion, collapse, and large-scale shape changes.

Adding the plot#
- Open Path Analyzer.
- Choose Radius of gyration in Observable.
- Choose a Path.
- Define the Group to analyze.
- Click Add Time Series or Add Histogram.
Inputs#
- One atom-containing selection is required.
- The result is reported in
A.
Views#
- Time series: follow compactness along the path.
- Histogram: inspect the preferred compactness range.
Tip
- Radius of gyration is a great first diagnostic for folding, compaction, or swelling.
- Pair it with Asphericity or Shape parameter if you also care about how the shape changes, not only how compact it is.
